Originating from high school and being influenced by the likes of Feeder, early Ash and the Foo Fighters, the four piece band from Kent have braved through playing public toilets with a set list of covers, survived a few band member changes and kept their heads high as they climb the stardom ladder, introducing a number of their own written tracks and filling venues that are getting bigger and better.
Tonight Where's Billy are rocking the Half Moon in Hildenborough in Kent, a regular spot they've played which has supported them from the start. Charismatic front man Darren gets the place moving and even a little mosh pit going whilst belting out favourite covers from the likes of Foo Fighters and the Killers, and in between delivering a few of their own tracks which the small crowd here tonight receieve mercifully.
The band show what entertainers they can be by playing a hilarious punked up version of Ronan Keating's 'When You Say Nothing At All' and then proceed to dedicate their own piss take attempt of a rap song, that goes along the lines of 'Do You Want To Come Back To My Place (Bitch)', to any Dizzy Rascal fans. They finish the set with a fantastic rendition of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and literally leave the crowd begging for more.
Where's Billy have quite a few accomplishments to date, including the release of 'The Loss of Patience' EP, appearing at the Guilfest Festival, and after successful recording sessions in the South of France they introduce their first album 'Taking The Blame'; a cd compiled of their own 9 songs which can only be described as a gentle mix of influences amongst the alternative talent that Where's Billy are beginning to flourish.
Perhaps their biggest achievement so far, the boys have secured a date on November 21st at the London Astoria 2. With the current line up, a mix of songs that would get a church choir moshing and a sassy showman lead singer I have no doubt the reaction will be a positive one.
